Time Really Does Fly...Especially As You Get Older (February 27, 2013)

The past 5 months have truly been a whirlwind. What have we been up to? Here's a few highlights throughout the past months:

1. Rochelle turned 30: In November I turned the 30! I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. The good news...I don't feel 30. For most of my life I have heard people say that age is just a number, those people are absolutely right. Age becomes whatever definition you choose to give it.

2. Christmas in Duluth and Hinckley: The past three years we had to take a 6 hour flight, which included a stop in Seattle in order to get home for Christmas. This year we didn't have to drive any longer than an hour and 15 minutes. We had an early Moravec Christmas at Luke and Cheryl's (less than a mile away). Horbacz Christmas was at George and Kathy's in Hinckley.

3. Everyone is pregnant: Including us!!! This summer we were both surprised and blessed with the start of a brand new life. Baby Horbacz is due mid-April. Less than two months away! Even though I'm going to be a mom, I still don't feel old. Our baby is going to have quite the introduction to the outdoors this summer. We already have plans for getting the baby out hiking and lake swimming. Others expecting: Mark and Kelly are due in July; Jon's cousin, Eric, and his wife, Kristen, are due 2 weeks before us;  a friend of mine from college is due in March; another friend from college is due in April; and a friend of mine from Catholic Youth Camp in expecting her 4th in May! Am I missing anyone? Wow! Quite the season for babies.

4. Farrah: The newest member of our family. Farrah was born on November 22, Thanksgiving Day. On January 26 we adopted her through a Golden Retriever rescue program called RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota). Her mom was abandon in the middle of nowhere in ND. On Thanksgiving Day she gave birth to 10 pups. We were lucky enough to adopt Farrah. She is half Golden Retriever and the rest is a mystery. The guess is black lab and maybe a bit of Border collie, but we don't know for sure. She absolutely loves the snow. I'm not sure how she's going to handle it when it begins to melt. She will be 14 weeks old tomorrow.

5. Finished teaching: I finished my long-term sub position at Cloquet Middle School right before Christmas break. I am now at home with Farrah and working on my medical transcription course work, trying to get as much done as I can before the baby comes. I love being at home, but it is strange not working side-by-side with Jon anymore.

6. Hockey: Jon has been reffing hockey this winter from Cloquet to Two Harbors. He seems to be really well liked by the other refs, the kiddos, and the coaches.

7. Rice Lake visit: We were finally able to get together with the Kodeshs. Our Godson, Aidan, is getting so big. It's hard to believe he is already in Kindergarten.

8. Recent Phenology: My mom spotted Trumpeter swans in the St. Croix River just north of Gordon, WI on Feb. 21. Jon and I spotted Canada Geese on a lake just east of Rice Lake, WI on Feb. 23.
